    Abstract  Effects of long-staple cotton combing noil gauge and feeding roller position on combing sliver and spinning quality were studied.A feeding roller backward nipper mechanism was designed.Under the same conditions of other processes,feeding roller backward nipper mechanism was adoptted,spinning tests were respectively carried out with noil gauge at 7 mm,9 mm and 11 mm,which were compared with the original nipper.The results showed that the total neps of combing sliver spun by feeding roller backward nipper mechanism was reduced,16 mm short fiber content was reduced and frequent yarn defect IPI value was significantly reduced.Other indicators such as CV values were improved.It is considered that compared with the original nipper,spinning quality of comber spinning longstaple cotton can be improved by feeding roller backward nipper mechanism.
